Originally from
Annapolis, Maryland, John moved to South Florida in 1989 and
began developing his diverse musical abilities through many
fantastic opportunities. He has performed and recorded with
great artists from every musical genre, from Jazz to Rock, Latin
to Reggae.
John has toured
the world with multi-platinum selling artists, such as
Julio Iglesias,
Engelbert Humperdinck, KC and The Sunshine Band, David Lee Roth,
and
Raul DiBlasio.
Touring with such artists has
allowed John to perform at the World's most prestigious
performance venues, such as the
Sydney Opera House,
Royal Albert Hall, The Palladium in London, Madison Square
Garden, Wembley Arena, The Kremlin,
and
The Kennedy Center.
On television, John has appeared on
The Tonight Show,
Good Morning America, The Donnie and Marie Show,
and
VH1 Behind The Music.
John has also performed with
the opening acts for
James Brown, Natalie
Cole, Vanessa Williams,
and
Jay
Leno.
Jazz artists with whom John has been featured include
Nat Adderley, Hiram Bullock (guitarist
with
Miles Davis, David
Sanborn, and The Brecker Bros.),
vocalist
Rosanna Vitro,
and Latin Jazz Percussionist,
Sammy Figueroa.
John has appeared on
stage with
Joshua Redman
and his quartet, as
well as with
Victor Wooten,
the Bassist
with
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.
He has performed at many
renowned Jazz clubs, such as
The Blue Note
and
The Jazz Standard
in
New York City,
Arturo Sandoval's Jazz Club in Miami,
and
Skuller's in Boston.
Throughout South Florida, John
regularly performs at the top local venues, such as
Jazziz Club and Bistro, the VanDyke Jazz Club, Ohara's
and others, as well
as at the most prestigious Luxury hotels, such as
The Breakers, The Ritz-Carlton, The Four Seasons, The Mandarin
Oriental, and
the
Boca
Raton Resort and Club.
Along with many other great recording projects he has been
involved with, John was also an integral part of "...and
Sammy Walked In",
which was
Sammy Figueroa's
debut recording that was
nominated for a
GRAMMY AWARD in 2006,
for "Latin
Jazz Album of the Year."
Sammy's latest CD,
"The Magician"
also features John, along side
a group of international talent, all of whom are accomplished
artists.
John is
currently working on composing music for his own debut release,
which not only will reflect his own diverse musical experiences,
but also the current styles of music that he has observed on the
international scene. John is continually experimenting with ways
to combine the sounds of the organic percussion of
India,
Africa, the Caribbean Islands
and
Central and South America
with the melodic/harmonic elements from
SouthEast Asia
and the
Middle
East,
as well as the passion expressed in music from the
Mediterranean
and
Latin
American
countries.
John is also
working on original music for Sammy Figueroa's next project. |
